A South Korean national kidnapped in Manila, Philippines, by unidentified men on Sunday has been safely released, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday. The released citizen, a man in his 40s, is in good health.

After a report was filed at the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines on Monday, the ministry convened an emergency situation review meeting between headquarters and the overseas mission and established a task force for the protection of overseas nationals, working closely with the local embassy to secure the victim's safe release.

The ministry worked in close coordination with Philippine police and other relevant authorities to secure the citizen's prompt release, keeping his safety as the top priority throughout.

"Further details are difficult to disclose at this time as an investigation is ongoing locally, and we will provide updates as they become available," the ministry said.
