UFC fighter Bae Myung-ho said he will await a court ruling in response to his ex-wife's allegations that he failed to pay child support.

On Tuesday, Bae posted a rebuttal on his Instagram after his ex-wife publicly raised the child support issue.

His ex-wife claimed that Bae abruptly left the family home, after which the two divorced by mutual agreement, and that he failed to pay child support or fulfill other agreed-upon obligations after the divorce.

"I cannot lay out every detail of our marriage in writing, but we reached a mutual settlement," Bae said. "For the sake of our child, I have done my best and have continued to provide financial support beyond child support payments, fulfilling my responsibilities as a parent who was unable to keep the family together and honoring what we agreed upon during the divorce process."

Bae said the two sides currently hold differing interpretations of the legal terms of their divorce agreement and that he is awaiting a legal ruling on the matter.

"I do not think the circumstances surrounding the period of non-payment and the reasons behind it should be judged based solely on one side's account," he added. "I will respect and abide by the court's ruling on this matter."

Earlier, his ex-wife wrote on her own Instagram that in June 2024, when their child — then 17 months old — was repeatedly hospitalized with pneumonia, Bae suddenly left the family home without explanation.

She said that immediately after leaving, he continued to travel abroad, attend parties and enjoy vacations, sharing those activities publicly on social media.

"Divorce was not the end of all the problems," she wrote. "We agreed to raise our child together and fulfill our responsibilities as parents before finalizing the divorce, but the promises were not kept and his responsibilities toward our child were not properly carried out."

Bae, known by the nickname "Wolverine," is a UFC fighter who has competed primarily in the welterweight division. He gained wider public recognition in 2018 when he appeared as actor Yoon Si-yoon's partner in a special episode of the KBS2 variety program "Happy Sunday — 1 Night 2 Days Season 3" filmed at Silmido. He married a non-celebrity in 2019.
