The Financial Supervisory Service plans to expand its entry-level hiring for next year by about 44 percent, with a particular push in IT recruitment to bolster its digital and electronic finance supervision workforce.

The FSS announced Tuesday that it will begin accepting applications for its 2027 Grade 5 general staff open recruitment on Wednesday. The agency plans to hire 95 people — 29 more than the 66 positions advertised in this year's recruitment cycle.

By field, the FSS will hire 34 in business administration, 20 in law, 17 in economics, 17 in IT, four in statistics, two in financial engineering and one in consumer studies. Compared with last year, business administration positions increased by 10 (from 24 to 34), law by four (from 16 to 20) and economics by five (from 12 to 17).

IT saw the sharpest increase, with positions rising from seven last year to 17 this year — a 2.4-fold expansion. Positions in statistics (four), financial engineering (two) and consumer studies (one) remain unchanged from last year. Key roles listed in the FSS announcement include not only supervision and examination of financial firms but also oversight of IT and electronic finance, financial information security, and vulnerability analysis of IT systems.

Of the 29 additional positions, 10 each come from business administration and IT, meaning the two fields account for roughly 69 percent of the total increase. The FSS aims to secure specialists capable of responding to the spread of digital finance, alongside its existing supervisory work in areas such as financial firm oversight and capital market unfair-trading investigations.

The recruitment is open to all applicants regardless of educational background, age or major, and candidates may apply in only one of the seven fields. Holders of a Korean bar license, a Korean Certified Public Accountant (KICPA) qualification, or a final-pass certificate from the Korean actuarial exam will receive a 10 percent score bonus on the first and second written examinations.

Applications will be accepted on the FSS recruitment website from 3 p.m. Wednesday through noon on Sept. 7. The first written examination is scheduled for Sept. 12, and the second — covering major subjects and essay writing — will be held Oct. 17. Two rounds of interviews will follow in November and December, with final results to be announced between late December and early January.
