Actor Kim Bu-sun has drawn attention for repeatedly posting messages on Facebook endorsing Jung Chung-rae, a candidate for leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, ahead of the party's Aug. 17 national convention.

On her Facebook page Monday, Kim's Saturday post read simply: "For party leader, it's 'aljeongjjik.'"

"Aljeongjjik" — a contraction of the Korean phrase meaning "Got it, I'll vote for Jung Chung-rae" — is a rallying slogan among Jung's supporters.

In a post from Thursday, Kim said, "I supported the Democratic Party for a long time, but I turned away after seeing President Lee Jae Myung's character," adding that Jung was "the right person to lead the party."

She then called Jung "a good person" and said, "If I were a Democratic Party member, I would vote for Jung without hesitation."

Along with that post, Kim shared a YouTube video in which Jung rebutted negative attacks from rival candidate Kim Min-seok. The video cited instances in which Kim Min-seok had previously targeted President Lee, with Jung arguing: "Four years ago you attacked Lee Jae Myung, and four years later you're attacking Jung Chung-rae."

Kim's public support for Jung appears to stem from personal grievances built up over a past scandal involving President Lee, as well as her animosity toward his more fervent supporters.

In a Sunday post, Kim said: "Democratic Party supporters cheered and rallied behind me. Then one day, when a scandal broke out involving that man, they collectively lost their minds and attacked me, flooding me with malicious comments and curses."

She then directed a torrent of criticism at Lee's supporters, writing: "The endlessly shallow 'Songgahyeok' (finger-revolution army, a pro-Lee fan group) — the new Lee Jae Myung. You people are worse than animals. When the day comes that you suffer something so unjust you want to die, remember my tears then. Nothing lasts forever."
