Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Choi Min-hee on Monday called on the joint police-prosecution investigation unit probing the so-called Shincheonji-government collusion allegations to release its findings publicly rather than selectively leaking them to the press.

Speaking on YTN Radio's "Jang Seong-cheol's News Myeongdang" that morning, Choi said, "If things continue this way, no one could argue against calling it interference by the joint investigation unit in the local elections and the Democratic Party leadership primary."

Choi also criticized former Prime Minister Kim Min-seok over his allegations that Shincheonji had interfered in the party's national convention. "One candidate vaguely said that breaking the secret three-way alliance of anti-Lee Jae Myung forces, factionalists and Shincheonji is the essence of this convention — but that is an abstract concept," she said. "Such vague wording could put the party in danger. Ordinary party members with voting rights might feel hurt, thinking, 'Are they calling me Shincheonji?' I am being very careful about this."

She added that if some Shincheonji members had infiltrated the party en masse in an organized effort with insiders to harm the party or interfere in the national convention, it could trigger a debate over whether the Democratic Party was an unconstitutional organization.

Choi also cited other reports suggesting that dozens of Shincheonji followers had joined the Democratic Party in an organized manner for the purpose of filing civil complaints. "The party leadership must ask the joint investigation unit to disclose its investigation findings and membership lists, and begin discussions on stripping those members of their party rights," she said.
