Daehan Shipbuilding has set a new annual order record after securing a contract for two Suezmax-class crude oil carriers from a new European shipping company.

The shipbuilder announced Monday that it had signed a shipbuilding contract with the newly established European firm for the two vessels.

Suezmax refers to the largest class of crude oil tankers capable of transiting the Suez Canal. The vessel type serves demand for crude transport linking the Middle East with Europe and the Americas.

With the latest contract, Daehan Shipbuilding's cumulative orders this year reached approximately 2.25 trillion won ($1.53 billion) across 17 vessels — both figures the highest in the company's history. Its order backlog now stands at 36 ships, valued at around 4.8 trillion won based on delivery schedules.
