Companies running their own online stores through MakeShop can now have their product information surfaced on ChatGPT.
E-commerce company Connectwave announced Wednesday that it has completed the ChatGPT plugin review process. MakeShop is Connectwave's online store-building solution.
"Store operators can display their latest MakeShop product listings to ChatGPT users without any complex integration," Connectwave said. "When a consumer searches for a product on ChatGPT or requests a recommendation, the service will suggest relevant items based on the latest product information from MakeShop stores."
The company added that sellers gain a new customer touchpoint through the AI platform, with increased customer acquisition and higher sales expected as a result.
Unlike conventional online shopping, customers no longer need to repeatedly enter search terms or navigate multiple pages — they can find what they want through natural-language conversation. The service also enables side-by-side product comparisons in a single session, the company said, delivering a new AI-based shopping experience.
As AI increasingly displaces traditional search portals as the primary discovery channel, shopping habits are shifting accordingly. AI-driven commerce — offering sellers new customer touchpoints and consumers a more convenient shopping experience — is expected to expand further.
"Online shopping is trending toward 'conversational discovery,' where users chat naturally with AI to find what they want," Connectwave said. "In line with this shift, we will provide a service that syncs the latest MakeShop product information in real time through the plugin."
