Lotte Department Store announced Monday it will serve as an official partner in the UNESCO World Heritage Fund fundraising campaign led by the Justpeace Foundation, in conjunction with the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee session.
The Justpeace Foundation is a public-interest foundation established on the basis of copyright donations by global artist G-Dragon. Lotte Department Store signed an MOU with the foundation on Friday. The two organizations plan to roll out a range of fundraising campaigns to raise awareness of the value of world heritage protection and build broader public interest in the cause.
The first event will be held at the Korea Pavilion of the World Heritage Committee at BEXCO in Busan from July 20 to 29. Visitors will receive a limited-edition UNESCO-designed transit card. A world heritage quiz event will also run on the Lotte Department Store app.
"We are honored to help spread awareness of the importance of cultural heritage conservation and contribute to expanding the social value needed for a sustainable future for world heritage," said Park Sang-woo, head of marketing at Lotte Department Store.
