The 2026 Lotte Aquathlon wrapped up successfully Sunday at Seokchon Lake in Jamsil and Lotte World Tower.

The Lotte Aquathlon traces its origins to the 2022 Lotte Oe Race and has grown into an officially sanctioned event organized by the Korea Triathlon Federation since 2023. The competition combines open-water swimming — two laps of the lake's east basin, totaling 1.5 kilometers — with a sky run up 2,917 stairs to the 123rd floor of Lotte World Tower.

Organizers used media facilities throughout the Lotte World Tower and Mall complex to highlight the event's environmental message through the "RE:LAKE" campaign. From July 8, posters featuring views of the newly clear Seokchon Lake and the slogan "RE:LAKE — Cleaner Water, Brighter Seokchon" appeared on indoor media screens, a media cube and streetlight banners at Lotte World Mall. Environmental company Gens operated a water-purification boat on the lake after the swimming segment concluded and staged a live demonstration of its purification technology at Arena Plaza.

Songpa-gu District Chief Seo Gang-seok said in a congratulatory address that the event was "a very special competition — swimming across Seokchon Lake and climbing 2,917 stairs to the 123rd floor of Lotte World Tower." He added that he hoped participants would enjoy "a wonderful and unique experience at Seokchon Lake, which Lotte and Songpa-gu District Office have worked together to bring to Grade 1 water quality."
