Swedish premium electric vehicle brand Polestar announced Thursday the launch of its flagship electric performance SUV, the Polestar 3.

The company said the Polestar 3 combines Scandinavian minimalist design with a modern sensibility and class-leading safety — it was named Euro NCAP's "Safest Car of 2025" — along with premium convenience features including a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

The Polestar 3 is equipped with a 92 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery in the Rear Motor trim and a 106 kWh unit in the Dual Motor and Performance trims. Its 800V architecture supports charging speeds of up to 350 kW, enabling a 10-to-80-percent charge in approximately 22 minutes.

Under Korea's domestic certification standards, the maximum range on a single charge is 486 km for the Dual Motor and 438 km for the Performance trim. The Rear Motor achieves 603 km on the WLTP cycle; its domestic certified range will be announced at a later date.

All trims feature a newly developed permanent-magnet synchronous rear motor, while the Dual Motor and Performance trims add an asynchronous front motor. The Performance trim delivers a maximum output of 680 horsepower (500 kW) and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

The Polestar 3 balances comfort and performance through a precisely tuned chassis. The Dual Motor and Performance trims come with ZF CDC dual-chamber air suspension, which enables electronic damping control that adapts to road conditions. Drivers can choose from three modes — standard, nimble and firm — to suit different driving situations.

All trims come standard with large four-piston Brembo brakes featuring ventilated discs and aluminum front calipers for consistent stopping power. The Performance trim adds a Swedish Gold finish to the calipers.

The optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system, available with the Plus Pack, delivers 1,610 watts through 25 speakers with Dolby Atmos and active road noise cancellation for an immersive 3D surround sound experience. It also supports an Abbey Road Studios mode, letting occupants hear music as it would sound in a professional recording environment.

The Polestar 3 runs on an Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processor capable of approximately 254 trillion operations per second. That computing power underpins the vehicle's advanced safety systems, battery management and sensor data processing, and the platform is designed to receive continuous feature updates and digital improvements over time.

The Polestar 3 also inherits the latest safety technology from Volvo Cars, supported by 12 ultrasonic sensors, five mid-range radars and five cameras.

In terms of design, the Polestar 3 is an E-segment SUV built on the electric-vehicle-dedicated SPA2 platform, measuring 4,900 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width and a low 1,615 mm in height. It is also the first production model to carry Polestar's Precept concept design into series production.

A low roofline and distinctive front wings emphasize a dynamic silhouette, while a rear aero wing and side aero blades enhance high-speed stability and aerodynamic performance.

The interior draws on Scandinavian minimalism, emphasizing a spacious feel and a refined atmosphere. Standard materials include charcoal bio-attributed microtech upholstery and aluminum trim. Optional animal-welfare Nappa leather seats are available in zinc, charcoal and dune, paired with black ash décor.

The Pilot Pack is standard across all trims, while the Plus Pack (7 million won, about $4,500) and Nappa Upgrade (4.5 million won) let customers add advanced driver assistance systems, premium audio, interior convenience features and premium materials to their preference.

Notably, the dual-chamber air suspension — offered as a separate option in overseas markets — is standard from the Dual Motor trim in Korea, and the Climate Pack and 1.3-megapixel LED headlights are also included in the Plus Pack.

To enhance the overall ownership experience, the Polestar 3 comes standard with a five-year or 100,000 km general warranty with consumables replacement support, an eight-year or 160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, 15 years of complimentary over-the-air software updates, and three years of complimentary LTE connectivity.

The Polestar 3 launches in three trims — Rear Motor, Dual Motor and Performance — with customer deliveries set to begin sequentially in September. Prices are 77.9 million won for the Rear Motor, 85.9 million won for the Dual Motor and 99.9 million won for the Performance.

Meanwhile, Polestar reached cumulative domestic sales of 10,000 units in Korea five years after entering the market in 2021, cementing its presence in the premium electric vehicle import segment.
