Government pushes discount events for farm, livestock and fishery products to rein in high inflation
Consumer prices in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province rose more than 3 percent in June compared with the same month a year earlier.
According to a June consumer price trend analysis released Wednesday by the Honam Regional Data Office under the Ministry of Statistics, consumer prices in Gwangju rose 3.1 percent year on year.
Among agricultural and livestock products, apples rose 14.2 percent and rice 12.7 percent, while domestic beef fell 4.7 percent and cucumbers dropped 35.8 percent.
In industrial products, gasoline rose 23.5 percent and diesel 34.3 percent, while sanitary pads fell 10.3 percent and kitchen towels dropped 9.6 percent.
Water supply charges rose 7.7 percent and city gas rates 0.5 percent, while electricity bills fell 0.4 percent.
Consumer prices in South Jeolla Province rose 3.5 percent year on year in June.
Among agricultural and livestock products, domestic beef rose 8.9 percent and apples 14.9 percent, while crab fell 9.2 percent and garlic dropped 7.6 percent.
In industrial products, gasoline rose 23.6 percent and diesel 34.9 percent, while sanitary pads fell 16.6 percent and sausages dropped 6.8 percent.
