AI platforms to be introduced for project management, design review
Companies to jointly develop offshore wind O&M platform
SK AX is joining forces with Korea Plant Service & Engineering to advance AI transformation in the power and energy sector. The two companies plan to apply AI platforms and agents to complex engineering tasks — including power plant design, project management, and operations and maintenance — to boost productivity and operational efficiency.
SK AX announced Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Plant Service & Engineering on AI transformation cooperation in the power and energy sector at SK U-Tower in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
Korea Plant Service & Engineering is the country's only comprehensive power plant design firm and has built expertise in nuclear power plant design. The company has recently been pursuing AI-driven operational innovation in line with industry shifts toward small modular reactors and renewable energy.
In the power and energy sector, design, project management, operations, maintenance and safety management are all tied to vast volumes of technical data, making it critical to build an AI framework suited to on-site workflows. Under the MOU, the two companies will gradually expand the scope of AI transformation from back-office functions such as management administration at Korea Plant Service & Engineering to core business areas including power plant design and operations.
As a first step, SK AX will roll out its AI platforms — AXgenticWire AiPMO and AXgenticWire NPO Agent Builder — in phases to improve company-wide efficiency at Korea Plant Service & Engineering. AiPMO is an AI project management platform that supports proposal development, project launch, schedule and cost management, risk assessment and performance tracking for power and energy projects. NPO Agent Builder enables employees to build their own AI agents for routine tasks such as searching and summarizing technical documents, reviewing project issues and checking design materials.
The two companies will also jointly identify AI initiatives tailored to the power and energy sector. They plan to collaborate on areas spanning design through operations and maintenance — including optimal offshore wind design and AI-based smart control systems — and will co-develop an offshore wind operations and maintenance platform supporting power generation forecasting, predictive maintenance and asset management. The platform is being considered for commercialization not only for domestic offshore wind projects but also for global markets.

Meanwhile, SK AX is broadening its AI transformation partnerships across major industries including manufacturing and finance. The company is working with SK hynix on a transition to autonomous factory operations, has implemented a global manufacturing AI transformation model with CS Wind, and is collaborating with Shinhan Financial Group on designing a one-person, one-financial-agent model.
