Busan Port Authority (BPA) held an inaugural reception for the new chairman of the Korea Marina Association at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center (BPEX) on Monday. Song Sang-geun, president of BPA, took office as the association's new chairman.

At the reception, Song said the marina industry is "an important driver of regional economic vitality through marine leisure and tourism," and pledged that the Korea Marina Association would work to revitalize the domestic marina sector by communicating and cooperating with the government, local authorities and related industries, and by putting forward policy proposals that reflect voices from the field.

The gathering served as an introductory meeting for Song as incoming chairman and a forum to discuss ways to develop the domestic marina industry and the association. Attendees exchanged views on a range of topics: expanding marina infrastructure, the need for legal and regulatory reform, inter-regional cooperation, and initiatives to cultivate specialized marina professionals.

Participants then toured marina facilities at Busan Port's North Port, including moorings and accommodation facilities, before boarding a BPA harbor guidance vessel to inspect the North Port marina and surrounding redevelopment project zones from the water.
