Vance says Iran can 'pick up the phone' if it has disputes over MOU implementation

US Vice President JD Vance warned that Washington would meet "violence with violence" after American forces launched airstrikes on Iran in retaliation for Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Vance wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday local time that "Iran signed a truce agreement" and that "we have abided by that agreement." He added: "If they have a disagreement about how the MOU is being implemented, they can pick up the phone. But violence will be met with violence."

CENTCOM said in a statement posted on X that its forces "conducted airstrikes against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz."

US aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites as well as coastal radar installations, CENTCOM said.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had struck multiple US military bases in the Middle East, putting the end-of-war agreement between the two countries under severe strain.
