Korean American singer Steve Seung-jun Yoo expressed frustration over the South Korean national football team's loss to South Africa.

On Friday, Yoo posted a video on Instagram showing himself working out intensely at a gym. "I'm not exercising because I'm furious about the football. I always blow off steam at the gym," he wrote. "But seriously — is a round of 32 berth really out of the question now?"

In a follow-up post, he added, "I'm genuinely asking — is a round of 32 completely out of reach now?! I can't shake this anger. I'm going to have to lift something heavy."

Online users who watched the video of Yoo grimacing through his workout left comments including "His face is full of rage," "There are still scenarios left," "Tell us a good pizza place," and "I'm speechless."

Earlier, Yoo signaled in a YouTube video on June 4 that he was giving up on entering South Korea.

"Korea is where I was born and the home of my heart," he said. "I have sincerely apologized and explained many times why I had no choice but to make that decision, but it seems my feelings have not been properly conveyed."

He added, "I've done what I can. I'm now going to let go of the matter of entering Korea."

The South Korean national football team lost 1-0 to South Africa on Thursday in their third Group A match at the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, played at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico. With one win and two losses — three points — South Korea currently sits sixth in the race for third-place qualification.
