A 9-year-old girl fell from the rooftop of an elementary school in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, during the morning arrival period.

According to the North Jeolla Provincial Police Agency, the girl, identified only as A, fell from the school rooftop into a flower bed below at around 8:08 a.m. Friday. She sustained injuries to her chest and legs and was taken by emergency responders to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police believe A had arrived earlier than most other students and climbed to the rooftop alone before the accident occurred.

"There are no indications at this point that school violence or any other criminal conduct was involved," a police official said. "We plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident by interviewing witnesses and school staff."
