Coupang Inc announced Thursday that it held a mobile health screening event called "Coupang On-Dongne Care" in Yeongdeok-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, to mark the month of Patriots and Veterans in June.

On Tuesday, Coupang Inc provided health screening services to about 500 people — including war veterans, local residents and children — at the Yeongdeok National Sports Center, in partnership with the Korean Central Medical Volunteer Association, North Gyeongsang Province, Yeongdeok-gun, the Korea Veterans Association and GP Co.

More than 50 medical professionals and health-care students took part, including university hospital professors affiliated with the Korean Central Medical Volunteer Association, as well as dentists, nurses, pharmacists and physical therapists.

The screenings focused on preventive care and included blood tests, bone density checks, and screenings for dementia and depression. Participants also received personalized prescriptions and medication guidance based on their results.

Alongside the health screenings, organizers ran a "Veterans' Portrait Studio," photographing war veterans and their families and presenting them with framed prints.

Yeongdeok-gun is historically significant as the site of the Yeongdeok District Battle and the Jangsa Landing Operation during the Korean War. Coupang Inc chose the location to express respect and gratitude to those who served the country.

Attendees included Jang Young-cheol, executive vice president of Coupang Inc's corporate social responsibility division; Yeongdeok-gun Mayor Kim Gwang-yeol; Mayor-elect Cho Ju-hong; Yeongdeok-gun Council Speaker Kim Seong-ho; Kim Nam-ju, head of the health policy division of North Gyeongsang Province; Yeongdeok-gun Public Health Center Director Oh Dong-gyu; Kim Geun-hwan, head of the Yeongdeok chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Association; Kwon Yong-geol, director of the Yeongdeok Comprehensive Volunteer Center; and Lee Eun-woo, president of the Korean Central Medical Volunteer Association.

The On-Dongne Care program is a community partnership initiative that Coupang Inc launched in April to improve access to health care in medically underserved areas. Tuesday's event in Yeongdeok-gun was the third installment, following earlier events in Jangsu, North Jeolla Province in April and Danyang, North Chungcheong Province in May.

"We organized this event to convey our respect and gratitude to veterans who dedicated themselves to the country during the month of Patriots and Veterans, and to contribute to the health of local residents," a Coupang Inc corporate social responsibility official said.
