First steering committee convened to guide child-friendly city drive through 2029

Ulju-gun in Ulsan convened the first steering committee meeting for its child-friendly city initiative on June 24, approving a plan to carry out 48 projects across six sectors through 2029.

The steering committee is chaired by the deputy county chief and comprises 12 members, including representatives from related agencies, outside experts and child delegates.

At the meeting, members were formally appointed and the committee reviewed and approved both a master plan outlining the county's child-friendly policy direction and an implementation plan for this year.

From this year through 2029, Ulju-gun will pursue 48 projects across six sectors under the guiding vision of "an Ulju that moves at the pace of children," with 15 county departments taking part. The six sectors are play and culture, participation and respect, safety and protection, health and welfare, educational environment, and home environment.

Of the 48 projects, Ulju-gun has designated 10 as evaluation targets — including the expansion of a comprehensive childcare support center, the operation of a children's participation committee, and children's rights education. Performance will be assessed with a focus on measurable change, including user satisfaction and how directly residents feel the impact of policy.

"We are committed to ensuring that children's voices are faithfully reflected in county governance, in the belief that a city where children thrive is a city where all residents thrive," a county official said.
