New body to review compliance, safety management and other shared priorities to boost synergies

Sangmidang Holdings will launch the Sangmidang Council, a consultative body comprising the chief executives of its major affiliates, on July 1.

The council will discuss shared management challenges affecting affiliates across the group, deliberate on responses to changes in the external business environment and coordinate collaboration. Its members include the chief executives of key affiliates such as Paris Croissant, BYC Korea and Samlip, with Do Se-ho, president of Paris Croissant, serving as inaugural chair. The group plans to operate subcommittees covering external policy, communications, compliance, safety management and shared growth — areas requiring close cooperation — to sharpen management execution and deepen synergies.

The existing "Change and Innovation Task Force," which had been run with a mix of internal and external members, will be restructured into a body led primarily by outside experts. The revamped unit is intended to strengthen independence and expertise, and to provide objective review and advisory functions on key agenda items discussed by the Sangmidang Council.

Meanwhile, Sangmidang Holdings has designated Heo Jin-su, vice chairman of Paris Croissant, as its new chief executive. The holding company plans to focus on its core role as a parent company — identifying new future businesses, managing its investment portfolio, formulating global growth strategies and overseeing research and development.

Do, the council's inaugural chair, said the body would "systematize a CEO-led accountability management system at each affiliate and strengthen management transparency."
