Shim Su-chang, a broadcaster and former baseball player, has confessed that he lost 80 percent of his assets through share investments following his divorce.

Appearing on TV Chosun's entertainment program "Joseon's Romantics," which aired Sunday, Shim said his assets were valued at between 300 million and 500 million won (about $326,000), but that he had put the money into shares and was now down 80 percent. "I'm too busy just paying monthly rent," he added.

On the same broadcast, Shim appeared as the first applicant for the "Class 6 Club" membership audition hosted by comedian Yang Sang-guk.

Shim hesitated for a long moment before filling in the reason for his divorce on the application form, eventually writing, "For each of us to start a new life." While completing the form, he muttered to himself, "I'm sweating. I've never filled out anything like this before."

"Since the divorce was recent, I felt I should mention it out of courtesy," Shim said, adding that his ex-wife had encouraged him, saying she hoped things would go well for him.

He also hinted at wanting to remarry, saying he had wanted to have children soon. "When I see a junior's son get drafted and go pro, it makes me want to find new love even faster," he said.

Shim married a jewelry accessories entrepreneur in 2018 and divorced last year. The couple had no children, and the two parted on mutually agreed terms.
