The National Pension Service announced Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kakao Enterprise on infrastructure cooperation for AI services.

The agreement builds on an MOU the two organizations signed in March on AI-driven public service innovation and operational transformation. Under the new accord, they will collaborate across the entire process — from AI infrastructure design through to operation.

Key areas of cooperation include building and providing technical support for graphics processing unit (GPU) servers to enable an AI environment, utilizing the Kakao Cloud AI platform, establishing a testing and pilot environment for AI models, and providing institutional and administrative support grounded in public-sector expertise.

Meanwhile, the National Pension Service is also moving to put in place the physical infrastructure needed for stable AI service operation.

On June 16, it completed a dedicated AI server zone equipped with the power supply and cooling facilities required to run high-performance GPUs, strengthening both server capacity and operational stability.

The facility was built within the National Pension Service ICT Center, which has been designated a national critical infrastructure site.

"Securing high-performance GPU resources through our partnership with Kakao Enterprise is a model case of proactive administration through public-private cooperation," National Pension Service Chairman Kim Seong-ju said. "Building on this foundation, we will push ahead with developing AI services that people can tangibly feel."
