Applications open through June 12 via the Geumcheon-gu district office website's integrated reservation service; open to youth born between Jan. 1, 1996, and Dec. 31, 2007, who are registered residents of Geumcheon-gu
Geumcheon-gu is recruiting 100 participants for its "2026 Summer Youth Part-Time Work" program, with applications open from Tuesday through June 12, to give young residents hands-on experience at a public institution and a chance to engage with local government. District Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon oversees the initiative.
The youth part-time work project is designed to help young people build practical administrative skills and explore career paths by working directly in district office operations during their school break.
Starting with the 2024 summer program, the district expanded eligibility beyond university students to include a broader youth demographic. The change opened the program to high school graduates, young people preparing to enter the workforce after completing a degree, and students enrolled in distance-learning or cyber universities who had previously been excluded.
Of the 100 slots, 30 will be filled through a priority selection process and 70 through general selection. Those chosen will be placed at the district office, neighborhood community centers and affiliated institutions, where they will gain on-site experience in administrative support, care services, tutoring and library work, among other duties.
Applicants must be registered residents of Geumcheon-gu as of the announcement date on Tuesday, and must have been born between Jan. 1, 1996, and Dec. 31, 2007. Anyone who participated in the youth part-time program within the past two years is not eligible to apply.
Priority selection is reserved for recipients of national basic livelihood benefits or those designated as near-poverty households — or their children — as well as members of multicultural families, households with three or more children, registered persons with disabilities under the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, North Korean defectors, and recipients of national merit-based benefits.
Selected participants will work for approximately four weeks, from July 6 through July 31. Hours are five hours a day, five days a week, scheduled between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. according to each institution's operating schedule. Daily pay is 60,605 won (about $40), including a meal allowance, and participants who complete all scheduled workdays will receive approximately 1.44 million won in total.
Interested youth may apply through the integrated reservation service on the Geumcheon-gu district office website. The district will hold a public computerized lottery on June 16 to select the final participants, with results posted on the district website and communicated to individuals directly.
