Samsung C&T wins Bangbae Shinsam-ho reconstruction contract

Complex to be named 'Raemian Le Perium'

Samsung C&T announced Monday that it has been selected as the contractor for the Bangbae Shinsam-ho apartment reconstruction project in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

The Bangbae Shinsam-ho reconstruction association passed a resolution at its general meeting June 13 to formally appoint Samsung C&T as contractor — about five months after the company was named the preferred negotiating partner on Jan. 28.

Located at 725 Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, the Bangbae Shinsam-ho complex was completed in 1983 and sits in one of Seoul's established affluent neighborhoods. The reconstruction plan calls for seven buildings of up to 41 above-ground floors and five below-ground floors, comprising 928 units and neighborhood commercial facilities across a 44,106-square-meter site. The construction cost is approximately 653.8 billion won (about $430 million).

The site has strong transport links to the wider Gangnam area via Sapyeong-daero and Seocho-daero, and sits near well-regarded school districts including Seorae Elementary School, Banpo Elementary School and Sehwa High School. It also borders Banpocheon stream, Seoripul Park and Montmartre Park, giving residents access to abundant natural surroundings.

Samsung C&T has proposed naming the new complex "Raemian Le Perium," combining the French word "repère" — meaning landmark — with the Latin "imperium," meaning authority. The name is intended to evoke the history and tradition of one of South Korea's premier residential neighborhoods while projecting a distinctive prestige and forward-looking vision.

The company has proposed a signature exterior design inspired by a white laurel wreath and a radiant crown. The facade reflects the flowing curves of the laurel wreath and the vertical geometry of the crown, designed to harmonize with the Han River and the natural landscape of Umyeonsan, and to create a new landmark skyline for the Bangbae area.

Samsung C&T also collaborated with scent marketing firm Scenton to develop a signature fragrance exclusive to Raemian Le Perium. The scent design, inspired by the refinement and elegance of European royal courts, is intended to bring a premium sensory experience throughout the complex.

A sky community on the 41st floor — the complex's highest level — will offer panoramic views taking in Umyeonsan, Seoripul Park, the Han River and Namsan Tower. The elevated retreat is expected to further distinguish Raemian Le Perium as a premium residential destination.

A central plaza of roughly 7,590 square meters (about 2,300 pyeong; 1 pyeong equals 3.3 square meters), created by reconfiguring the building layout from the original redevelopment plan, will be designed to evoke a royal garden setting.

Community facilities integrated with the complex's landscaping will offer a total of 55 programs — including a fitness center, golf club and swimming pool — to provide residents with high-quality leisure and cultural experiences. Each building will also feature a private community space designed for quiet, focused use, connected directly to residents' units for convenient and secure access.

Samsung C&T also plans to apply its patented top-rated floor structure to ensure a comfortable living environment, and will incorporate seismic design standards equivalent to those used in major national infrastructure, raising both safety and residential quality.

Im Cheol-jin, executive vice president and head of Samsung C&T's residential sales division, said the company would bring its full capabilities to bear in meeting the expectations of association members who placed their trust in the firm. "We will maximize the symbolic value and future potential befitting the status of this original premier neighborhood and build a landmark complex that defines the area," he said.
