After heavy showers drenched Seoul and the greater metropolitan area on Sunday, scattered showers are forecast to continue across much of the country on Monday.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Seoul will see a low of 19 degrees Celsius and a high of 32 degrees Celsius on Monday. Sweltering heat will persist nationwide, with Incheon, Suwon, Chuncheon, Cheongju, Sejong and Gwangju among the cities expected to reach highs of 30 degrees.

Some parts of Jeju Island may see rain through the early morning hours. Showers are forecast for the afternoon across the southeastern interior of North Jeolla Province, the inland areas of South Jeolla Province, the southwestern interior of North Gyeongsang Province and the western interior of South Gyeongsang Province. By evening, coverage will expand into North Gyeongsang Province — excluding the East Sea coast — and the interior of South Gyeongsang Province.

Late at night, showers may also reach parts of the central region — excluding the Yeongdong area of Gangwon Province — and the Jeolla region, excluding the southeastern portion of South Jeolla Province.

Jeju Island is expected to receive around 5 millimeters of rain. The southeastern interior of North Jeolla Province, the Gwangju and South Jeolla Province inland areas, the southwestern interior of North Gyeongsang Province and the western interior of South Gyeongsang Province can expect 5 to 10 millimeters.

Meanwhile, heavy rain advisories were issued Sunday for parts of Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, as thunderstorms dumped 20 to 30 millimeters of rain per hour across the region.
