A woman in her 40s has been arrested after threatening her husband with a knife in front of their teenage son, allegedly suspecting him of having feelings for a coworker.

The Namyangju Bukbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province arrested the woman, identified only as A, on Saturday on charges of aggravated intimidation and violations of the Child Welfare Act, and is investigating the case.

According to police, A brandished a kitchen knife at her husband at around 7:04 p.m. Friday at their home in Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju, threatening to kill him and throwing a television set and other objects.

She also faces charges of emotionally abusing her elementary school-age son by exposing him to the violent confrontation.

Police said A carried out the attack because she believed her husband had developed feelings for one of her coworkers.

Authorities issued emergency protective measures against A, including a no-contact order, an order to vacate the residence and a ban on communications with the victim.
