As part of Yeosu's initiative to develop the city as a hub for night tourism, "Midnight Picnic at Gukdong Port" will launch Saturday at the waterfront park near Gukdong Port.

The event is organized around three themed zones: a picnic zone, a food flea market zone and a busking zone.

At the "Night Sea Picnic Zone," visitors registered with the "Yeosu-en" app can borrow picnic mats to relax and enjoy the nighttime sea.

The "Food Flea Market" is built around a Yeosu gourmet concept, drawing on local specialties and regional ingredients. Offerings include fresh raw fish cups from Gukdong Port, Yeosu island-style fish cake, tteokbokki made with Dolsan leaf kimchi, and Yeosu camellia flower tea.

The "Gukdong Port Night Sound Busking" series will run every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 p.m. for two hours. A total of 42 performances are planned, featuring live music, audience-participation acts and special appearances by social media influencers.

The event will run on a trial basis Fridays through Sundays — three days a week — from Saturday through the end of June, before transitioning to daily programming in July.

"We plan to draw more tourists through tourism and cultural content unique to Yeosu, and to inject new energy into the local commercial district," a city official said.
