Broadcaster and attorney Seo Dong-joo has opened up about being harassed by a workplace superior.

A video was posted Thursday on her YouTube channel "Seo Dong-joo's Tto.Do.Dong," in which she counsels viewers on their personal struggles.

In the video, Seo read out a message from a viewer — a woman in her 30s who said she was worn out from a breakup and job loss and asked whether there was a way to rebuild her shattered self-esteem.

"Reading this reminded me of my past self, and it broke my heart," Seo said. "After my divorce, I thought about going into a professional field." She said she had mixed feelings about whether focusing on studying — and the sense of achievement it brings — could help restore one's self-esteem. "I took the bar exam twice, and when I failed the first time, my self-esteem hit rock bottom," she added.

Seo then spoke about her experience with workplace harassment. "I thought passing the bar exam would be the end of my hardships, but it turned out to be just the beginning," she said. "People can be really tough, blunt and sometimes outright rude."

"A supervisor who didn't like me harassed me quite a lot," she said. "Once, out of nowhere while I was swamped with work, they told me to stand up and walk around. I stood up thinking that was all they wanted, but they were checking my outfit. They said they didn't like what I was wearing — that I dressed like a man. That's how they picked fights with me."

Seo is the daughter of the late comedian Seo Se-won and broadcaster Seo Jeong-hee. She remarried last year, wedding a non-celebrity four years her junior. She recently said she is trying to conceive again after suffering a miscarriage.
