HTWO Guangzhou presents integrated hydrogen value chain solutions at the 2026 International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Vehicle Conference, pledging to contribute to China's hydrogen industry development
Hyundai Motor Group said Wednesday that HTWO Guangzhou, its hydrogen fuel cell system production base in China, is participating in the 2026 International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Vehicle Conference, a three-day event running through Friday in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province.
Now in its 10th year, the conference is one of China's most prominent hydrogen industry forums, with approximately 15,000 government officials, academics and industry representatives expected to attend.
HTWO Guangzhou is taking part in exhibitions, forums and panel discussions at the event to share updates on its hydrogen business and explore opportunities for expanded industry cooperation. The company will also deliver a keynote address at the opening ceremony, outlining plans to advance China's hydrogen supply chain and deepen collaboration based on its global hydrogen business leadership.
At its exhibition booth, HTWO Guangzhou is presenting an integrated solution spanning the full hydrogen value chain — covering hydrogen fuel cell systems, PEM water electrolysis technology and its hydrogen society vision. The company is also highlighting the commercial achievements of its locally produced fuel cell systems in China, showcasing a lineup of hydrogen commercial vehicles powered by those systems, including trucks, buses and street sweepers.
HTWO Guangzhou sold more than 900 hydrogen commercial vehicles in China in 2025, ranking third overall in the Chinese market and first among foreign-invested companies.
HTWO Guangzhou was recently named a "supply chain leading enterprise" in the hydrogen energy sector by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, which published its first list of leading enterprises and facilitating organizations for the city's strategic industrial clusters. It was the only foreign-invested company among the 96 firms selected as leading enterprises across Guangzhou's 14 strategic industrial clusters, a recognition of its technological competitiveness and contributions to building the hydrogen industry ecosystem.
As Hyundai Motor Group's first overseas hydrogen fuel cell production and sales base, HTWO Guangzhou is expanding business localization and technology cooperation under the strategy of "in China, for China, toward the world."
Hyundai Motor Group also established a fuel cell technology research institute in China in July last year to strengthen its localization capabilities and its ability to develop China-specific products and respond to market demands. In November 2024, the group signed an MOU with Ulsan Metropolitan City and Guangzhou — leading hydrogen cities in South Korea and China, respectively — to promote the expansion of hydrogen ecosystems in the two countries.
"China's hydrogen industry has now entered a critical stage, moving past technological and economic inflection points and scaling up rapidly," an HTWO Guangzhou official said. "Hyundai Motor Group and HTWO Guangzhou will contribute to advancing the hydrogen supply chain, drawing on our accumulated global hydrogen business experience and local infrastructure in China."
China is accelerating the development of its hydrogen industry through the designation of hydrogen pilot cities and fiscal support. In March, the country announced a policy to select and support a second group of hydrogen pilot city clusters, pursuing the establishment of "integrated hydrogen demonstration clusters" that link the full cycle of hydrogen production, storage, transport and utilization within a single region.
In South Korea, a strategy to build an integrated hydrogen ecosystem is also taking shape through the development of hydrogen cities and hydrogen-specialized complexes. Hyundai Motor Group is pursuing the creation of an AI and hydrogen city in the Saemangeum area of North Jeolla Province, with plans to build an ecosystem covering the full cycle from hydrogen production to utilization in conjunction with renewable energy. The group aims to supply green hydrogen produced through solar-based water electrolysis plants to hydrogen charging stations, port and logistics equipment, and hydrogen mobility, realizing an integrated hydrogen utilization model.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group participated in the World Hydrogen Summit 2026, held last month at the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre in the Netherlands, operating an exhibition centered on HTWO — its hydrogen brand and business platform. The group displayed a hydrogen fuel cell system mockup and the next-generation hydrogen electric vehicle "The All New NEXO," continuing to demonstrate its hydrogen technology on major global stages.
