Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has won an excellence award at the "2026 Outstanding County Evaluation for Agricultural and Food Export Policy," an assessment hosted by the provincial government, the county announced Tuesday.
The county recorded $10.44 million in agricultural and food exports last year, shipping local products to 34 countries including the United States, Japan, Taiwan and New Zealand.
Evaluators particularly recognized the county's decision to open a dedicated "Uiseong-gun Food Hall" on the global B2B platform Tridge, which laid the groundwork for promoting local agricultural products overseas. The county also drew praise for expanding fresh produce exports and diversifying overseas markets for processed food products.
"We will continue to expand support for strengthening quality competitiveness and securing stable overseas markets, so that Uiseong-gun can emerge as a leading region for global agricultural and food exports," county chief Kim Ju-su said.
