Upgraded from B to A rating on the strength of hazard identification and system improvements

Hyundai Elevator announced Tuesday that it has received an A rating in the Serious Accident Punishment Act compliance certification assessment.

The Serious Accident Punishment Act compliance certification program, known as SCC, comprehensively evaluates a company's safety and health management systems and its fulfillment of obligations to prevent serious workplace accidents. Hyundai Elevator underwent document reviews and on-site inspections over roughly two months from April through May, conducted by assessment bodies Daeryuk Aju Law Firm and the Korea Industrial Health Association, and demonstrated a high level of safety and health management capability.

The company moved up one tier from a B rating to an A rating through proactive safety management improvements. It received high marks for upgrading its safety management system and building preventive processes, led by its dedicated Safety Support Division.

Hyundai Elevator has also been actively adopting advanced technologies to prevent on-site safety accidents. The company is deploying a range of smart safety systems, including improvements to the visibility of fire and evacuation facilities inside its factory, an AI vision platform, unmanned forklift operation, and live body cameras to reduce on-site accidents.

"Earning the A rating in the Serious Accident Punishment Act compliance certification is both a recognition of our safety capabilities and a responsibility to continuously identify hazards and upgrade our systems," a company official said. "We will keep working to build a safe workplace free of serious accidents."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Elevator has obtained integrated companywide ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system certification and received the Prime Minister's Award at the 24th Korea Safety Grand Prize in 2025.

In addition, the company held a launch ceremony for its 2026 Large and Small Business Win-Win Cooperation Program at its Chungju Smart Campus in April, formally activating a safety management cooperation framework with partner companies and related organizations as part of its goal of achieving zero serious accidents.
