The North Gyeongsang Culture and Tourism Corporation marked its 51st anniversary with a renewed commitment to a century of growth in the post-APEC era.

About 100 employees gathered June 5 in the main conference room on the first floor of its headquarters for a ceremony celebrating the 51st anniversary of its founding and the 14th anniversary of its establishment as a local public enterprise.

The event looked back on the corporation's five decades at the forefront of South Korea's tourism industry and reaffirmed its ambitions for the next 100 years, building on the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit and the 2026 PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Annual Summit.

The ceremony included the presentation of commendations to exemplary employees and external partners, a screening of a special documentary, and remarks by the corporation's president and the head of its labor union.

An in-house documentary titled "Yukbuchon 1979" drew particular attention from those in attendance.

The film was produced to reexamine the significance of Yukbuchon — the corporation's headquarters building and a living landmark of South Korea's tourism and convention industry — and to reflect on the tangible and intangible assets built over 50 years by those who came before.

Commendations were presented to outstanding employees within the organization and to the public relations department of iM Bank for producing promotional materials that contributed to boosting tourism in Gyeongju.

In his address, corporation President Kim Nam-il called on staff to press forward without fear. "Like a red horse galloping freely across a vast plain, let us all unite with one heart and one purpose and advance boldly toward a new 100 years of North Gyeongsang tourism," he said.
