Gangdong-gu city and district council candidates rally behind Lee in final appeal: 'Judge me on results, not party color'
People Power Party candidate Lee Su-hee wrapped up her final campaign push Tuesday evening near Dunchon Station, one day before the June 3 local elections, as she seeks a second term as Gangdong-gu district mayor.
The rally drew the full slate of People Power Party candidates from the Gangdong-gu (B) district, including Seoul city council candidates Kim Young-cheol, Jo Dong-tak and Jang Tae-yong, as well as district council candidates Kim Ki-sang and Kim Gyeong-cheon, all urging voters to support Lee.
Taking the microphone, Lee reviewed her four years in office and said the term had been about "restoring what was broken in Gangdong-gu back to normal." She urged residents to judge her on her record rather than her party affiliation. "Please give a district mayor who gets things done — a district mayor who has prepared for the future — one more chance to work," she said.
Residents who gathered on their way home from work responded with warm applause and cheers, making their support for Lee clear.
Closing out the rally, Lee pledged to keep canvassing Gangdong until the final moment of the campaign "with an even humbler posture," and called on voters to "use your ballot to rebalance power that has tilted too far to one side."
Polling for the June 3 local elections will be held Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at designated voting stations across Gangdong-gu.
