The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), led by President Yoo Seung-min, conducted an on-site safety inspection at the Jincheon National Athletes' Village on Monday, the organization announced Tuesday.
Village director Kim Taek-su visited the rugby training ground and welcome center to assess facility conditions and safety management systems. He also examined areas previously damaged by seasonal flooding, checking drainage systems and reviewing on-site preparedness measures to prevent accidents ahead of the summer rainy season.
As part of an intensive safety inspection period running from April 20 to June 19, the KSOC has assembled a joint inspection team covering 22 sites across four categories. The sites include 15 locations at the Jincheon National Athletes' Village and two at the Taereung Athletes' Village, as well as the Sports Talent Development Institute in Jangheung, South Jeolla Province; the Pyeongchang Winter Training Center in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province; the KSOC headquarters building in Mugyo-dong, Seoul; and the Hanam Tennis Courts in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.
"We are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of facilities and living conditions so that athletes preparing for upcoming international competitions, including the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, can train without worry," Kim said. "We will continue conducting safety inspections and addressing risk factors to create a training environment where athletes can focus entirely on their preparation."
