Digital twin, BIM and AI-based progress monitoring among future technologies on the agenda
Hanmi Global will convene a summit to discuss the future of construction project management in the age of AI as the company marks its 30th anniversary.
The company announced Monday that it will hold Global PM Summit 2026 on June 19 at the Art Hall on the fourth floor of the West Wing of POSCO Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The event, organized to commemorate Hanmi Global's three decades since introducing project management to South Korea, will be held under the theme "Rewriting the Future of Global PM in the Age of AI."
The summit will feature AI business innovation case studies from British global project management firm Turner & Townsend, alongside the latest construction AI research from teams at the Technical University of Munich and the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Sessions will also cover the current state and future direction of key construction industry technologies, including digital twin, building information modeling (BIM), AI-based progress monitoring and systems autonomy.
Hanmi Global is organizing the event, which is hosted by the Construction Industry Vision Forum and backed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The keynote address will be delivered by David Whysall, chief operating officer of Turner & Townsend, speaking on "Turner & Townsend's Growth Strategy and the Future of PM in the Age of AI."
Special lectures will follow. Andre Borrmann, director of the Construction AI Center at the Technical University of Munich, will present on "AI in the Built Environment," covering the latest technology trends and their potential applications. Rafael Sacks, director of the National Building Research Institute at the Technion, will speak on "How AI Will Transform Construction Project Management." Simultaneous interpretation will be provided for all overseas speakers.
After the keynote, a panel discussion will be moderated by Lee Kang, a professor at Yonsei University. Panelists will include the overseas speakers, along with Ahn Chang-beom, a professor at Seoul National University; Jeong Bu-young, executive vice president at Hanmi Global; and Lee Geun-hyeong, senior vice president at POSCO E&C.
The panel will discuss "PM Growth Strategies in the Age of AI," examining shifts in the global project management industry, directions for AI-driven project management innovation, and avenues for collaboration between industry and academia.
"Over the past 30 years, Hanmi Global has led the introduction, establishment and expansion of the PM industry in Korea, and we now seek to explore new roles and growth paths for PM as the AI era unfolds," a company official said. "With world-renowned scholars and global PM industry leaders gathering in one place, this will be a meaningful occasion to discuss the future competitiveness of the construction industry and the direction of PM's development."
Meanwhile, Hanmi Global is also expanding its overseas footprint. Last month the company signed a strategic alliance agreement with global project management firm AtkinsRéalis to jointly pursue major construction projects in the United States — including nuclear power plants and industrial facilities — accelerating the diversification of its international project portfolio.
