KGM announced Monday that its Musso pickup truck surpassed 10,000 cumulative sales at home and abroad just five months after its launch.

The Musso — launched in January — sold 6,642 units domestically and 4,896 units overseas through May, for a combined total of 11,538 units. The figures include sales of the outgoing model, which accounted for 58 domestic units and 56 exports.

The Musso has also established a dominant position in South Korea's pickup market. KGM sold a combined 10,360 pickups from January through May — 6,642 Musso units and 3,718 Musso EV units — capturing an 86 percent share of the domestic pickup segment. The company said the Musso's strong performance has helped it hold the top spot among domestic pickup brands for nearly 25 years.

In May alone, KGM sold 1,137 Musso units and 755 Musso EV units, totaling 1,892 vehicles and claiming an 88.3 percent market share for the month.

KGM attributed the Musso's success to its broad powertrain lineup and strong product appeal. The model is offered in gasoline, diesel and electric vehicle variants, widening customer choice, and comes with a range of design options that blend a traditional pickup aesthetic with an urban-oriented look.

Cargo capacity is another selling point. The standard deck, fitted with a dynamic five-link suspension, can carry up to 400 kilograms. The long-deck model handles up to 700 kilograms with a power leaf suspension and up to 500 kilograms with the dynamic five-link setup.

"The Musso is an iconic model that has led the history of Korean pickup trucks and driven the expansion of the market," a KGM official said. "Surpassing 10,000 cumulative sales in just five months is proof of both its competitiveness in the domestic market and its product strength in key global markets."

The official added that the company would "continue to expand the Musso brand lineup in line with growing leisure demand and the electrification trend, and showcase the competitiveness of the K-pickup in global markets."

Meanwhile, KGM is accelerating its push into overseas markets. After holding a global launch event in Turkey in April, the company has been expanding country-by-country launch events to diversify its export markets.

The Turkey launch drew more than 170 dealers, journalists and influencers from 31 countries, including Turkey, Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
