Student IDs to double as debit cards

Shinhan Bank announced Monday that it has signed a mutual cooperation agreement with Hoseo University.

The signing ceremony was held Sunday at Hoseo University's Asan campus in South Chungcheong Province, with Shinhan Bank President Jeong Sang-hyeok and Hoseo University President Kang Il-gu among the senior officials from both institutions in attendance.

Under the agreement, Shinhan Bank will serve as the university's primary financial partner, providing banking services needed for day-to-day operations. The bank was recently selected through a competitive bidding process as Hoseo University's main banking partner.

The bank also plans to issue student ID cards with a built-in debit card function and offer a range of financial services and benefits to improve convenience for faculty and students.

Hoseo University focuses on training talent in advanced industries including AI, semiconductors and biohealth. Both sides agreed to continue exploring ways to cooperate in building a student-centered educational environment and strengthening support systems.

"It is an honor to become a financial partner supporting Hoseo University's education, research and administrative operations," Jeong said. "We will build a sustainable model for shared growth by delivering convenient and innovative financial services."
