Gijang-gun announced Sunday that it will open the Gijang Youth Center "Cheong:ryujang" on the first floor of Jeonggwan Edupark on June 26. The name "Cheong:ryujang" means "a space where young people stay, connect and prepare for a new start."

Designed as a multipurpose community space to support youth communication, growth and ambition, the center features a shared lounge, seminar room, counseling room, media room, powder room and rest room.

The center was developed in collaboration with the Department of Interior Architecture at Kyungsung University, incorporating young people's input from the planning stage. The name "Cheong:ryujang" was chosen through a student competition and idea submission process, making it a youth space shaped jointly by the local community and the university.

Gijang-gun was selected for Busan's youth activity space revitalization support project, securing 16 million won (about $10,600) in program operating funds. When the center opens, it will run a full lineup of youth-tailored programs — a job-seeking and startup package, a language challenge, one-day classes, social dining, a running program called "Run-Hi" and a local business networking event.

"As a space where young people prepare for new beginnings, we will do our best to establish it as a hub that supports self-development," a Gijang-gun official said. "We will continue to develop programs that reflect the diverse needs of young residents."
