The Korea Social Security Information Service announced Monday that it co-hosted the AI Security Hackathon with the Korea Convergence Security Association on Friday at Sungshin Women's University in Seoul.

Held as a special session of the 2026 Korea Convergence Security Association Autumn Academic Conference, the competition was designed to sharpen university students' AI skills and information security problem-solving abilities while identifying next-generation security talent.

Finalist teams competed for three hours, tackling AI-assisted web vulnerability analysis and capture-the-flag information security challenges. Participants drew on their security knowledge and AI proficiency to complete assigned tasks within the time limit.

The CSE LAB team — An Ye-hyeon, Jeong Hye-yun and Choi Su-bin of Sungshin Women's University — took the grand prize, awarded by the president of the Korea Social Security Information Service. Teams for the excellence, merit and encouragement awards were also selected.

"This competition gave young security talent a platform to put their creative ideas into practice and build real-world skills," Korea Social Security Information Service President Kim Hyeon-jun said. "We will continue to identify and support the people who will lead the AI security field."

Meanwhile, the Korea Social Security Information Service continues to strengthen information security capabilities in the health and welfare sector, including through the Medical Information Protection Challenge, a cybersecurity competition for healthcare institutions.
