A person in their 50s has died after falling asleep inside a vehicle with a gas heater running.

According to the Nonsan Police Station and other authorities, the person was found dead Sunday around 11:10 a.m. inside a van parked in a lot near Hwangsan Bridge in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province.

The victim had been drinking with members of a camping club on Saturday and later fell asleep inside the van with a gas heater on, according to authorities.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the death, with carbon monoxide poisoning from the gas heater as the suspected cause.
