Suspect admitted to the killing during police questioning, saying an argument broke out during a conversation
A suspect in his 60s has been detained in connection with the killing of a former partner in Seoul.
Seoul Western District Court Judge Park Seok-geun issued a detention warrant Saturday against the suspect, identified only as A, who faces murder charges, citing a risk of flight.
A is accused of killing a woman in her 70s, identified as B, at a home in Bulgwang-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, on Thursday.
A entered the courtroom at 2:26 p.m. Saturday for the pretrial detention hearing without responding to reporters' questions about the motive behind the killing.
After the incident, A was found unconscious by police next to B's body and was taken to a hospital. A was discharged Friday. During police questioning, A reportedly admitted to the killing, saying an argument had broken out during a conversation.
Police found that B had been stalked by A before the killing. B had reported A to police four times since 2024. The Eunpyeong Police Station received a call at around 6:40 a.m. Thursday from B's family saying they had lost contact with B's mother, and officers were dispatched to A's home based on the prior report history.
