Campaign pledges organized around 4 core strategies: innovation, self-sufficiency, balance and happiness

Namyangju said Friday it has concluded five rounds of strategic planning sessions aimed at realizing its elected administration's governing vision — "Citizens' Sovereignty Era, the Great Transformation of Namyangju" — and has finalized campaign pledge projects around four core strategies.

The city has held the sessions since October to closely review the direction and detailed implementation plans for campaign pledges under the ninth elected administration.

The city examined the connectivity and feasibility of projects across departments based on strategic tasks proposed by the Citizens' Sovereignty Committee, and organized the pledges around four core strategies: innovation, self-sufficiency, balance and happiness.

The "innovative administration for citizens" pillar focuses on strengthening field-based communication and digital innovation. Key initiatives include a direct outreach program called "Let's Meet the Mayor," the launch of a civic participation platform called the Citizens' Sovereignty Square, and the operation of an AI-based administrative service called Namyangju Membership.

The "self-sufficient economy for the future" pillar aims to build a sustainable growth foundation and stabilize livelihoods. The city plans to secure future growth drivers by introducing a Namyangju-style development profit recapture model, establishing the Wangseok advanced cluster and attracting businesses, revitalizing neighborhood commercial districts, and pursuing a Namyangju-style RE100 energy-independent city initiative.

The "balanced development for the city" pillar focuses on improving the transportation network and creating a comfortable residential environment. Plans include expanding rail connectivity — covering subway lines 3, 6, 8 and 9 as well as the GTX — extending road networks, restructuring bus routes to better serve residents, reducing apartment maintenance fees, building a smart disaster-safety platform, and developing a waterfront mixed-use cultural space.

The "everyday happiness for all" pillar centers on adding vitality to residents' daily lives and expanding access to cultural activities. The city plans to raise quality of life through initiatives such as building runner stations and developing specialized running courses, operating a seniors' wisdom bank, running a Namyangju Citizens' University, promoting neighborhood cultural performances, and creating the Joseon Royal Heritage Cultural Belt.

"Now that strategies and goals are in place, swift execution is what matters," Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyeon-deok said. "Together with more than 2,500 city officials, I will hit the ground running and fulfill our promises to citizens without fail."

Namyangju plans to hold a pledge-implementation review committee meeting in December to finalize the ninth elected administration's campaign pledges and action plans, and will publish the results on the city's official website.
