Woori Bank President Jeong Jin-wan hopes the trip will 'deliver warmth and hope'
Woori Bank announced Thursday that it held the "2026 Overseas Volunteer Corps Launch Ceremony" together with the National Pension Service.
The two organizations previously conducted joint volunteer activities twice — in Thailand in 2018 and Cambodia in 2019 — before suspending the program due to COVID-19. The resumption comes seven years after the last mission.
The initiative was organized to allow employees from both institutions to provide meaningful support to overseas communities and practice the values of sharing and mutual growth.
A 30-member volunteer team drawn from Woori Bank and the National Pension Service will visit schools in the Chiang Mai region of Thailand from Nov. 16 to Nov. 21 — a six-day, four-night trip — carrying out a range of community service activities.
The team will run programs alongside local students, including financial literacy education and other educational services, as well as school facility improvements.
Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation is also running its "2026 Coal Briquette Sharing" project, delivering coal briquettes to 525 households in the Greater Seoul area to ease the heating burden on energy-vulnerable residents during the winter months.
"I hope this volunteer activity becomes an opportunity to bring new learning experiences and warm hope to students in Thailand," Woori Bank President Jeong Jin-wan said.
