Minimum flight hours for new first officers to rise to 500 from 2027
Airline raises entry bar to strengthen safety capabilities
Trinity Airways announced Wednesday that it is recruiting experienced flight crew. Applications will be accepted through 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 via the airline's official recruitment website.
Applicants must hold a domestic airline transport pilot or commercial pilot certificate (land multiengine) and have a total of at least 3,000 flight hours, including at least 500 hours as a Boeing 737 captain.
In addition, applicants must hold a valid domestic aviation radio operator certificate, a Class 1 aviation medical certificate, and an aviation English proficiency rating of Level 4 or higher — each with at least three months of validity remaining as of the application deadline. Candidates whose most recent break from flight duty is six months or less will be given preference.
Starting with first officer recruitment announcements in 2027, Trinity will raise the minimum total flight hours required for new first officers from 250 to 500, as part of its effort to attract and develop skilled pilots.
The change reflects the airline's commitment to making safety its top priority within its hiring system. Trinity said it plans to select candidates with diverse flight experience from the recruitment stage and build a top-tier flight safety framework through a structured proficiency management program.
The selection process will proceed in three stages: a document screening, a first-round interview and a second-round interview. Specific interview schedules will be communicated individually when results are announced at each stage.
Alongside this recruitment drive, Trinity is also conducting ongoing hiring for maintenance engineers (experienced), parts repair maintenance engineers (experienced) and maintenance instructors (experienced).
"We look forward to applications from outstanding flight crew candidates who will take responsibility for passenger safety and help build a trusted sky route," a Trinity spokesperson said. "We will continue to provide full support so that our flight crew can perform at their best in the finest possible environment."
Meanwhile, Trinity has carried about 300,000 passengers on its Busan-Fukuoka and Busan-Sapporo routes within the first year of service. Both routes have maintained average load factors above 90 percent, consistently capturing travel demand for Japan among passengers in the Yeongnam region.
