Korean American Marilyn Strickland has won a fourth term in the US House of Representatives.

Strickland secured reelection Tuesday (local time) in Washington state's 10th Congressional District, defeating fellow Korean American Republican challenger Chris Chung (Korean name: Jeong Dong-bok), the Associated Press reported.

With 62 percent of votes counted, Strickland had captured 62.4 percent of the vote as of around 8:21 p.m. Pacific time, well ahead of Chung's 35.1 percent.

Born in Seoul to Willie Strickland, a Korean War veteran, and Korean mother Kim In-min, Strickland describes her identity as "half Korean and half Black." She also holds the Korean name Kim Sun-ja.

She drew wide attention in January 2021 when she wore a hanbok — a traditional Korean garment — while taking her oath of office upon first entering the House.
