Retired golfer Park Se-ri has opened up about the financial pressures of running a foundation and a company since stepping away from professional golf.
On Monday's episode of tvN STORY's "Nam-gyeoseo Mwohage" ("What's Left to Do"), Park joined comedian Lee Young-ja and motivational speaker Kim Chang-ok for a meal and a candid conversation about work and life after retirement, according to Dong-A Ilbo.
When Kim said he had spent so much of his life focused on work that he never truly savored anything, Park agreed. "Same here," she said. "I was all work, and by the time I retired, my thinking had changed a lot."
Park, who retired at 40, explained her decision. "That was around the time I had planned to retire," she said. "I wanted to do something that would help younger players and give promising athletes a sense of hope — so I run a foundation and a company."
Lee then turned to Park with a pointed observation. "The reason Park Se-ri does broadcasting is to pay her employees," Lee said, before asking: "What time of the month is the most suffocating for you?"
Park answered without hesitation. "The first week," she said.
"Payroll goes out on the first of every month," she added. "And taxes are brutal." Kim laughed. "That's so real," he said.
