Namyang Dairy Products announced Tuesday it had distributed 32 million won ($23,900) in second-half "family scholarships" to 23 children of its distributors.

The family scholarship program, introduced by Namyang Dairy Products in 2013 as a first in the domestic dairy industry, is designed to ease education costs for distributor owners' children. Scholarships are awarded twice a year, in the first and second halves. Since its launch, the program has supported a cumulative 1,267 recipients with about 1.67 billion won over 14 years.

Beyond the scholarship, Namyang Dairy Products runs a broader range of distributor support programs. Its "distributor co-prosperity council," also introduced in 2013 as an industry first, brings together company executives and distributor owners on a regular basis to hear about on-the-ground difficulties and discuss key policy priorities. The company also offers sales support, long-service awards, and assistance with family events and childbirth supplies. Since a management transition in 2024, it has added a low-interest personal loan program.

Namyang Dairy Products has received an "excellent" rating for three consecutive years in the Korea Fair Trade Commission's evaluation of fair-trade agreement compliance in the distributor sector, and has been named a "distributor companion company" for three consecutive years as well.

"We have maintained the scholarship program for 14 years to genuinely ease the education costs facing distributor families and help their children pursue their dreams," a company official said. "We will continue to strengthen co-prosperity programs that span education, financial support and welfare."
