Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters concluded the autumn edition of the 6th Hanul Sanggomun Cultural Festival on Saturday, drawing more than 1,100 local residents.

The event was designed to help children develop critical thinking and self-expression skills while creating lasting memories with their families, the headquarters said Monday.

The festival's main program, an essay-writing competition, drew more than 80 elementary school students who wrote on the themes of "friends" and "memories."

The headquarters plans to select 13 winning entries through a judging process and compile all submissions into a collection to be printed and distributed.

The venue featured a range of activities, including traditional folk games, hands-on experiences with North Gyeongsang Province cultural heritage, a random-play dance event, a bubble show and Halloween festivities.

Particularly notable was a safety-umbrella decorating campaign promoting pedestrian safety for children. More than 100 participants received safety education, attached reflective stickers to umbrellas and took part in a donation drive.

"It was meaningful to see children freely express their thoughts and create precious memories with their families through the Sanggomun Cultural Festival," headquarters chief Lee Yong-hee said. "We will continue to prepare richer and more diverse cultural programs to meet the expectations of local residents."
