Seoul's Dongjak-gu will host a career lecture for parents and children featuring Pyo Chang-won, director of the Pyo Chang-won Institute of Forensic Science.

The district office announced the event, titled "Career Talk for Parents and Children," will be held Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. in the grand hall on the fourth floor of the district office building.

The lecture is designed to broaden young people's understanding of diverse career paths and help them identify their aptitudes and potential as they map out concrete plans for the future.

Pyo, who serves as a forensic science adviser to the Korean National Police Agency, will speak on the theme "Heroes Who Fight Crime."

Pyo is expected to introduce the real-world roles of professionals who uncover the truth behind crimes — including CSI investigators, criminal profilers and forensic scientists — and to explain the expertise and core competencies the field demands.

Pyo will also walk attendees through a step-by-step career planning process covering everything from initial exploration and choosing a major to building skills and gaining field experience, helping young people form a concrete picture of their future careers.

The event is open to 350 participants — parents, children and interested residents — on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration runs from 9 a.m. Thursday through Nov. 20 via the integrated reservation system on the Dongjak-gu district office website.

The district will also hold the 11th Dongjak-gu Youth Career and Jobs Fair, "Dream Space," on Thursday at Nodeulnaru Park. The fair will offer local youth a range of career experience activities, aptitude exploration opportunities and mentoring sessions with Seoul National University students.

Dongjak-gu District Mayor Ryu Sam-young said the district hopes the lecture will be a meaningful occasion for parents and children thinking together about the future. "We will continue to create diverse opportunities for the talented young people who will lead the future to discover their aptitudes and potential and turn their dreams into something concrete," Ryu said.
