Getting from Mullae-dong 1-ga in Yeongdeungpo-gu to Sindobrim Station just got easier.
Yeongdeungpo-gu will open a new road directly connecting Mullae-dong 1-ga to Sindobrim Station on Tuesday.
The road was built to relieve traffic congestion around the machinery and metalworking district in Mullae-dong 1-ga.
Previously, drivers heading from Mullae-dong 1-ga toward Sindobrim Station had to detour up to 500 meters to reach the Mullae-dong intersection. In response, the district converted part of a residents-only parking lot into a road, creating a direct link to Sindobrim Station.
The new connecting road spans 40 meters in length and 9.5 meters in width, with two lanes in both directions and a sidewalk on one side. The total project cost was 500 million won ($374,000).
Vehicles heading toward Sindobrim will now be able to access Sindobrim Bridge No. 1 directly without detouring along Gyeongin-ro, cutting travel distances by up to 1 kilometer. The route is expected to improve commuting convenience for nearby residents as well as the movement of freight vehicles serving the metalworking district.
The district has also put safety measures in place ahead of the opening. Two retaining walls were installed to prevent vehicles from going off the road, and heating cables were laid along the sloped section to guard against snow and ice in winter.
"The opening of this connecting road will significantly reduce detour distances, greatly improving traffic convenience for residents and local small business owners," a Yeongdeungpo-gu official said. "We will continue to do our best to create a safe and comfortable road environment."
