Limited-edition Seoul goods in collaboration with Oxford
Seoul Metropolitan Government unveils 'Seoul City Series'
Block sets that let you assemble two of Seoul's most recognizable landmarks — Gwanghwamun Square and the Han River ferry — by hand are now on sale.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Sunday that it launched the limited-edition "Seoul City Series" on Sept. 30, a collaboration with block brand Oxford. The lineup consists of two sets: Gwanghwamun Square and the Han River ferry.
The Gwanghwamun Square set includes Gwanghwamun Gate, statues of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and King Sejong, and the Garden of Gratitude. It marks the first time the Garden of Gratitude has been featured in official Seoul goods.
The Han River ferry set recreates the vessel alongside its dock, letting builders assemble a miniature scene of the Han River's public water transit.
The Gwanghwamun Square set is priced at 62,900 won ($47) and the Han River ferry set at 43,900 won. Both are available at Seoul My Soul shops, online and offline stores at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Oxford's official online store, and select E-mart locations.
The products are designed to let consumers actively complete a piece of Seoul's cityscape rather than simply purchase a souvenir. The city plans to develop additional sets themed around seasons, events and urban spaces, and to expand partnerships with private companies.
"We will continue working with a wide range of private companies to spread the appeal of the Seoul brand through content that captures the city's unique stories," said Kim Hyeong-rae, public relations planning officer at the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
